About Us

Our Mission

The LGBTQ+ Center has been created to provide inclusive programming and outreach initiatives for WVU students, faculty, staff, and community members. We collaborate with and support the University’s larger social justice efforts by providing academic and curricular resources on WVU campuses and across the state.

The Center also provides a warm, comfortable atmosphere for organizing, socializing, teaching, and learning.

The LGBTQ+ Center:

DEVELOPS programming and outreach for LGBTQ+ students, staff, faculty and community members. We recognize the diversity of our communities and encourage analyses and collaborations that address all inequalities, including sexuality, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, social class, language, religion, disability, veteran status, religion, and region, and more.

PROVIDES academic and curricular support to develop LGBTQ+ related research projects and grants, teaching materials, courses and conferences, as well as host events that encourage student well-being and academic achievement.

ADVOCATES for members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. This is as important on our campuses as it is throughout the state.

SERVES as a space for the social, educational, and advocacy-related activities for members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies.  We're also happy to provide advice to and/or learn from other communities also working to improve conditions in our state.
